UPCOMING SOLO EXHIBIT

Canadian Museum of NatureThe Canadian Museum of Nature, Ottawa, Canada will present a solo exhibition of Barbara Gamble's artwork from October 10, 2008 to January 4, 2009. This exhibition, curated by Petra Halkes, PhD, will display a selection of work from Gamble's career. These works reveal the artist's relationship with the landscape through her interpretations of the natural world. Gamble's most recent paintings are depictions of specific ecological habitats. These are places where plant species at risk are able to grow only because of their protected status.

As part of the exhibition, plant scrapbooks created in the 1800's by Catherine Parr Traill, a Canadian pioneer, author of Wildflowers of Canada, and an amateur botanist, will be on display. These artifacts from the Museum's Collection have never been publicly exhibited.
